My Apologies

Hey there guys and girls, My apologies for the lack of activity on here over the pat few months, I have suffered a dislocated shoulder with a few major complications and so my ability to lift a camera has become nil.

I find that this has happened at a time where i had started to become too settled in the style of photography that i shoot, and so it has given me an opportunity to sit down have a look at what is out there and approach my photography in a different way for when i am back up and running, which if it happens may be another 12 months or so.

SO there is plenty of learning and research i can get on with and hopefully will find that spark once again with the art that i have been involved in for 13 years.

I will keep you updated to what i find and see and how the injury is coming along.

Regard

Chris

Newspaper Article…

Right well today has been a pretty productive day in work for my self and the guys i work with. We have video and stills all over the English press. Being in the fortunate position of RAF Photographer we were asked to cover a massive new item on station. The BBC, ITV, Telegraph, Guardian all ran with the story. (the only ones i have seen to date).

I was in the privileged position to photograph the aircraft taking off here is a link to the ITV page with the report on. Unfortunatley no credit.

Life goes on.

Happy easter to everyone. it is a little later then planned but none the less.

Hope that every one had a great long weekend and got up to loads of fun and interesting things.

I my self ended up going to Whitby in North Yorkshire and a little place called Thornton le Dale. I took my camera along with me and hiked for a good few miles. the sun was shining and i saw some great shots. thinking that the afternoon sun would be a better option then what i had at the time.

Well after a nice english tea and sandwich. fanar fanar. we heading back home. and to my unwitting annoyance the cloud had come over and the sun had vanished for the day. The cloud that had come over were the nasty sheet white clouds with absolutely no definition of detail at all. So Thorton le dale photographs are pleasant but not what i had in mind..

On to Whitby. With the cloud came haze. and a lot of it. It seemed that mother nature didn’t want me to have any luck at all. So a few hours in the afternoon under a sheet of cloud with thick pea soup haze meant that whiny was a bit of a wash out. Nevertheless i will be returning later on in the year to Whitby, Robin hoods bay. and the surrounding beautiful area of the North Yorkshire Moors.

RAF Volleyball

Well this week has been a busy one for myself, and here is why…

Monday I had to drive to London for coverage of the AIRCOM volleyball competition which puts the Belgium, Dutch, German, Polish, USA, and Brittish Air Forces against each other in a 3 day tournament.

After a training session, which i used to get my photographers eye in,  we had a meeting and set our self up for a 0230 departure to Holland, only a mere 10 hour drive. This was a tough slog, but i felt more for the team members as they were due to play a game that evening. I had to merely photograph the opening ceremony, and the games that both the teams played in.

We ended up back at the accommodation at 2200hrs that night a very long day indeed.

Wednesday was the busiest of the lot which showed 3 games each through out the day. By this part I had started to have an appreciation for the level of energy needed to compete at these levels. It was a fast quick sport and at times i found my self losing the action through the lens.

The last day of the tournament had The RAF teams play against the Belgium teams in their play off for final position. After my duty had come to an end for the time, i got chance to watch the 2 finals, USA women vs Polish Women and German Men vs Polish Men. The overall winners were USA women and Germany Men.

This gave way to the closing ceremony, an hour of pomp and ceremony with a marching band and all competitors stood to attention. After this there was the formal dinner. Best uniform from all 6 countries were in abundance along with civil servants and other hanger ons, including my self.

Friday was a tough day, after setting off from Holland at 0900 and walking through my front door at 2320. Constantly on the move.

The past week i have enjoyed and look forward to being invited to the next AIRCOM in 2016. The images from the tournament will be available through the RAF Sports Magazine ACTIVE, RAF News and hopefully other places.

Chris

I am back;

Hello there fellow readers and bloggers!

I have been away for a while due to working commitments, now i am back with a vengeance. I will be posting tips, tricks, photos, videos, and ideas on a weekly basis from now on so keep your ears and eyes pealed.

Because of work I didn’t manage to start my project 365 this year and so I have decided that I will do this project in line with the fiscal year starting on April 1st. I have a lot of things planned this year and i hope you guys and girls will enjoy following my little adventures.

But to start with here is one of my latest images of the Humber Bridge. The Humber Bridge was built in 1982 to help people “escape” Hull for a nominal fee. (Only Kidding) It sits on the banks of the River Humber joining Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire/Humberside/East Riding, or what ever it is called these days.

Taken on the south bank of the river Humber, the Humber bridge sits proof on an overcast winters evening

Hope you like it and i look forward to hearing any comments.
